IMAGE NO.63 Many of the features in this page originated in the 90s and previously shown in the STREET RAG (my publication) are controlled electrically and/or hydraulically rather direct mechanical connections and what GMC now calls BY-WIRE Which will be applied to their SKATE-BOARD having a removable passenger capsule which is also an idea I suggested then for insertion in the HIGH SPEED MAGLEV SYSTEM. (see BI-MODAL MODULE at the bottom of this page and in index4).The above shows the electric motor in each wheel. only the hub and tire rotate on all four wheels.The sketch at left is a retake of previous 'Street Rag'such as 58,79p1, 86p2,also shown in many others issues before and after.It's a cross- section of a motor and generator concept on a previous idea for an electric bike.The electric vehicle wheel shown here is somewhat of the same principle and all four are identicle. But it is airtight with dirt seals and has a hinged front cover facing outward which can be opened to replace,if ever need be, one of the six coils (3 on each side)or to repair a flat tire or replace it. Like an aircraft wheel the axle is mounted from one side and the turning axis and suspension is dead center above the wheel.This could then permit with electronic controls and dual(as a fail safe redundant system) controls as applied to aircrafts etc.. With such a system we could then program all types of possibilities such as in a stopped mode, turn all wheels 90 degrees sideways and with a programmed low speed 'crawl'mode the car sideways into even a tight parking spot. In your back yard you'd command a theoretical pivot axis point upon which all wheels become perpendicular to it and depending which way you want to turn 2 on one side propel forward while the others backwards and thus in a very small space the car turns on itself ready to leave your driveway.Just command a different pivot point you could still turn in small spaces.The possibilities are quite numerous.Depending how we provide power to the wheels could provide us with various torque ranges even without varying the voltage. The chart at bottom right gives us an idea of how it can work.here it gives 5 'speeds' with no gears needed. (cont)xxxxxxxxxxxOne possibility to minimize energy consumption is to control the torque of the motor without energy loss or heat loss.By using three coils small,medium,and large in each wheel,five different torque ranges are available. The firstspeed, by energizing all three coils gives the maximum torque required for start off,then as less power is needed the computer shuts off the first,or smallest coil with only the two outer ones energized, as acceleration increases and less torque is needed again the second ,or intermediate one shuts off leaving only the outer one activated. that's the third speed and as acceleration increases again that third one ,the outer, shuts down as the intermediate only takes over and finnally again only the smallest or the fifth speed is the high gear engaging all four wheels coasting at higher speeds. Should more power be required for upper inclines or acceleration automatically the process and sequence reverses itself. The following are some existing patents of other "in-wheel EV motors". Some time ago, the sketch and description Image 64 below, refering to an idea to permit future autos to side motion roll in to park or swing around about the center axis of the vehicle for example home back yard exit, was presented several years ago to the public. Now JEEP is considering it. See photo below.(cont) ####

WELL...If you're in your backyard and want to get out in a hurry you no longer need to back out worrying each time if you'll ride on the grass, scrape the paint on the brushes or back into moving traffic. Instead you enter your programmed command for an axial rotation with the fulcrum point dead center between all wheels. Having typical designs to aircraft wheels this can now permit a 180 degree rotation within a very small space in the driveway and thus permitting exiting in a forward direction and in a safer manner. Also entering parking spots sideways directly without back and forward motions.(cont)

(Sept.6,2004)Well,'wat da ya kno??'An article in NY Times(page D9 titled Automobiles)which mentions General Motors,MIT,Media Lab,Ford, By the way are they copying the same concept as above and more sketches added about six months ago below on 'drive mode', 'rotate' and 'side roll-in' to park, also below that turning with all wheel axles focus to anyone given theoretical point. Please call 'em and let em kno'(Phil Patton)it's 'ole hat'.My idea with the pivots above the (aircraft type) wheels as shown in Image 63 is even a better one and when an auto company is interested I can design it for them including suspension, bi-wire controls, also electric motor and tire access.

Above are add-ons that can be sold as items to give the cars a more personal look. As we can notice some already have ferocious appearances. The designers subconsciouly may tend to make them look more and more like live creatures. Why not...?(Cont.)

Below..in N.Y.POST Jan 26,05 p.64..JEEP also is copying my idea of a 4 wheel rotation about it's own axis (center of the vehicle). They also copied my sliding steering to drive in 50 countries, on the left side like in England...Now if they want exclusive patents they can contact me otherwise all other auto companies will copy my idea also.(Cont.)

HERE IS WHAT'S BEING COPIED--- SEE BELOW--With the electric motor installed in each wheel and electronically controlled, many new possibilities then exist. (The methods used in both M.I.T.And JEEP concepts above are changing the 'foot print' or point of contact when changing wheel positions. If the Ford M.I.T.put the wheels in a rotate position or a side roll-in to park a very unstable condition exists for the vehicle to roll over.As is, the front wheels won't follow the same circle as the rear ones unless the wheels are closer than 90dgs or the rotation will be erratic. As for normal driving, in a sharp turn, it puts the outer wheels further apart while moving closer to the center and easier to capsize. No...the method shown below is the way to go. I'll design the nuts and bolts of it when who ever shows an interest.(Cont.)

Above are three wheel positions permitting A;on the right normal driving, B; in the center side motion to park for instance,and C; at left spinning about an imaginary focal point dead center in the vehicle.When the focal point is by computer theoretically positioned by the driver anywhere within the framework of the vehicle,all axles will line up to that point and wheels will rotate with two adjacent ones going forward while the other two rotate backwards. Once that theoretical point is positioned outside the framework as shown below, all 4 wheels rotate in the same direction and axles again line up with that focal point.Once in the desired position the driver signals into 'Drive-mode' and proceeds onto the road.(Cont.)

(Sept.7,2004)Well,'wat da ya kno??'Again like in N.Y.Times-Sept6,2004 below Image64,the very next day another article (by Holly Reich)in NYC DAILY NEWS(page 84 titled 'On the Drawing Board'), they are copying the same concept as below.This time its Chrysler Group?s with the introduction of the Jeep Treo stating ((("The steering wheel and column, pedals, speedometer and other instruments are housed in a single, sculptured module. The entire module slides through a slot in the dash for quick adaptation to right- or left-hand driving"))) Again this is 'ole hat'.Is there something going on where they think they can take my ideas and run to the Patent Office. If they try I'll tell all their competitors I have precedence on that idea and should they be interested to contact me. 'Prior art'is the name of the game. Tell them they don't scare me...I'll sue them all.Here is the jeep slide steering concept car. Below that was my same idea years ago.

IMAGE NO.65 Here's one for the road.. "YOU'RE DRUNK!"... She said....So,I pushed the button on the dash board and slid the 'BY WIRE' controls over to her."OK...YOU DRIVE!"..I said. It entails the console, the steering wheel,and the pedals. An entire package that slides across on steel bars. Since the floor is flat ,one can even sit in the center and ride the highways in a safer position in case of accidents, especially if driving alone. Should an Englishman go to France through the Chunnel ,once there he switches the controls over and moves to the opposite seat and drives on the other side of the road. Also, any manufacturing company could sell their EV's to any country without the need of special tooling to accommodate various countries regulations and saving $billions in the process. The vehicle is now universal and can be sold anywhere without additional costs.Over 50 countries drive on the left side of the road (one third of the world population),all the others drive on the 'right' side. About a decade ago the sketches below were in STREET RAG NO.?? They refer to the EVs simple and basic construction..only 4 moving parts (the wheels)no gears, no pistons, etc... and 2 standard batteries exchangeable at battery swap stations.

(IMAGE NO.66) In the yellow image above is a typical Electric Vehicle frame as shown below it but it has inserted in the rear battery cavity housing a special package to permit temporarily the same feature as a hybride today. Substituting the rear battery is a unit and within it comprises a gasoline powered engine coupled to an electric generator to recharge the front battery while traveling.In the trunk is an 'outboard motorboat' gas tank supplying fuel to the rear unit. This could be used in remote areas where there are no battery swap stations until the volume of EVs will justify installing them. Later the rear cavity can be reused for a second battery doubling the range before swaps. Below that are the concept of my EV and also GM's EV1 A terrific car but hours to recharge. My "skateboard" concept presented to the public over a decade ago, has 4 identical electric motors drives in each wheel (a 4 wheel drive)with a simple frame having battery receptacles in the front and rear of it. The lower unit is GMs power package and drive.

Here's other interim possibilities for GM EV1s and which can be used as a hybrid by attaching a gas motor-generator like the trailer below at right or mounting a Thule cargo unit on the roof of the EV1.

(Cont.)The green box above is an available motor-generator unit without an aerodynamic shape that can also be mounted on the roof of a car.It is 15" high, 20" across, and 30" long and weighs 180#.Two would only require 60" in length. So all you GM EV1 leasers you can also travel long distances with these interim set-ups when you go on vacation with your car without the long wait to recharge due to the batteries being recharged while your rolling along the highways. Once back home, you have the option to take the units off and plug in the EV for local use.

IMAGE NO.68 Above is a more advanced bi-modal concept which will accept only the pressurized passenger capsule (or cargo of the same size)to ride the evacuated pipelines at extremely high speeds. The methods of controlling the vacuum will be elaborated on at a later a date. Much energy can be saved by leaving the extra weight of the carriers including wheels and batteries behind when entering the magnetic guideways. Since the passengers do not owned them they are transferred to incoming exiting vehicles which nest themselves in them and take off on the roads to destinations. A monthly fee by capsule owners is paid to carrier providers for access to them at all times even when one drives home with it and parks it in his or her garage overnight or every night.(Cont.)

IMAGE NO.69 Above like 68 above that illustrate how the capsules seperate while moving in a forward direction. Contrary to the image shown just above a better way to best ease that operation upon entering the high speed guideway its best the capsule ride horizontally while the carriers are on a decline and seperating. While those exiting the guideway the capsule is in the decline while the carrier moves in a synchronize horizontal pattern with the descending nesting capsule.(Cont.)

IMAGE NO.73 Again here the vehicle capsule should move horizontally while the carrier is on the decline.These vehicles such as this Russian LADA are shown to only give an idea of how all car makers can coordinate their designs to adapt to these systems while making the Electric Vehicle adaptable for both conditions on the road and in the guideways.At that time when the Foot-Draggers moved over and the Daring-Doers moved in, a Meeting of the Minds at The International Auto Makers Club agree to standard EV batteries and guideways standards established by Marco System2010 under the authority of the Global Magnetic Guideways based in PACIFICA, (previously New Britain Island near Papua New Guinea)and which will be the future World Capital.(Cont.)
